Educational Platform with Cohort Licenses and Certification

Access rights to modules, exams and certificates with expiry aligned to the academic calendar.

Context

An edtech sells programs with start and end dates, unlockable modules, exams with limited attempts and certificates third parties must verify. Academics needs access to respect cohorts and calendars; legal and accreditation need proof of who earned what and when; product cannot rely on loose flags in the LMS database without one rights history.

Often paid enrollment, virtual classroom access and issued certificates diverge: a scholarship extends deadlines in one system but not another, a retake isn’t tied to the same record as the license. VaultyCore acts as an educational-rights ledger (modules, attempts, windows) with auditable transitions.

Common pain points

  • License vs. progress: the learner “sees” the course but a module stays locked by a cohort rule not reflected alongside billing.
  • Scholarships and exceptions: extensions finance can’t explain to the institution or sponsor.
  • Certification and fraud: diplomas or seals without a fact chain accreditors can review.

What Is Modeled in VaultyCore

  • Access rights per learner or institutional contract: modules, labs, exam attempts and windows aligned to the academic calendar.
  • Lifecycle: enrollment, academic pause, scholarship extension, dropout and closure — each change as a verifiable fact.
  • Certification conditions spelled out (e.g. “eligible after passing modules X and Y in window Z”).
  • Vault separation for programs, brands or countries with different regulatory requirements.

LMS vs. rights ledger

VaultyCore does not replace your LMS or video engine: it defines which learning rights must be satisfied before showing content, enabling an attempt or issuing a certificate. The healthy flow is: payment or institutional agreement confirmed → licenses issued or adjusted in the ledger → the LMS queries that state; reporting and audit read the same chain for accreditation and compliance.

Typical Operational Flow

  1. Checkout or B2B contract confirms program, cohort, scholarships or seat caps.
  2. VaultyCore issues licenses and attempt limits in the verifiable ledger.
  3. The classroom and exams consume or adjust rights (e.g. an attempt used) as chained facts.
  4. Accreditation, finance and support review the fact chain for claims, audits or annual renewals.

Institutions and direct-to-consumer

Many platforms mix B2C with university or corporate sales: the same engine must support per-site licenses, volume deals and exceptions without duplicating truth in every integration.

Outcome

Fewer “I paid but can’t access the module” incidents, fewer disputes on institutional renewals and a clear narrative for accreditors: which right was granted, how it was consumed and when the cycle closed.

Deeper integration with proctoring, plagiarism rules and competency reporting can sit on top without erasing license history.
